Personalized Rs are better than forms. Keep at it, Hildegard.

1/28/15--I queried David with Chain Reaction. I nudged him belatedly in March and got no response. So I'm closing this out.

Congrats Elaine. 12/9/11, I've queried him. Two weeks ago, I've nudged her. No response. I'll try Will later this month.

They have an auto-reply now:

"Thank you so much for sending us your query. We promise we’ll be reviewing each submission, but please understand that due to the volume of emails we receive, it is now our policy to respond (usually within four weeks) only if we are interested in seeing more material. Thanks again for thinking of us. We sincerely wish you all the best."

E-queried with first chapter. About 3 weeks later rec'd request for full. About 3 week after that, I received a very kind, personalized rejection. "“Much to admire in your work – a unique premise, an intriguing opening, and strong writing overall.” Left with a very good impression as a result.

It's a customized form letter, which is very nice, but still a form. At least they didn't keep me hanging around for months. I got one the other day (for a differnt book in a different genre) that was also personalized but not nearly as pleasant.

Okay, I'll admit I was a bit overwhelmed when I saw Peter Straub and John Grisham on the client list, but they had to start somewhere, just like us new writers....

So I went ahead and submitted my work.
