Thank you for sending your submission to The Book Group. We appreciate the work that goes into querying and we’re glad you sought us out.

We receive so many queries that we aren’t able to respond individually to each one. The agent to whom you sent your query will be in touch as soon as possible if she would like to pursue your work. If you don’t hear from an agent within three months, it means we’re declining the opportunity to represent you.

Some housekeeping: Please make sure that you’ve included the first and last name of the agent you are querying in the subject line of your email. You are welcome to submit to more than one agent at once at The Book Group; please let us know that you’ve submitted to multiple agents on our team in the body of your query letter.

We understand that you may have sent your query to other agencies. If you receive an offer of representation from another agency, we’d be grateful if you could let us know by sending another email with “offer of representation” in the subject line.

For our complete submissions guidelines and to get a better idea of the best agent for your book, please visit our website at www.thebookgroup.com. For inquiries that are not related to representation, please email info@thebookgroup.com.

Lastly, we have been recently informed there is someone attempting to impersonate agents from The Book Group and get money in exchange for working with us. We have reported this to the FBI. Apparently this is happening at other agencies. Please remember: no reputable agent will charge you money.
Thank you again for sharing your work with us.

With all best wishes,

The Book Group

Query: 6/3/23
CNR: 6/30/23 (I see that on 6/28 she made a full request for a query sent on 6/13, so I assume she's read mine.)

For my query email subject line, I used this format: Query for Elisabeth Weed: TITLE (86k Upmarket Book Club)
Note: Although I queried on Saturday, June 3rd, I did not receive the promised automatic confirmation email until Monday, June 5th at 8:23am.
