Thank you for sending us your query. Having considered it carefully, we have decided that MMQ is not the right fit for your project, and so we are going to pass at this time.
Tastes and specializations vary widely from agent to agent, and another agency may well feel differently. Thank you for thinking of our agency, and we wish you the best of luck in your search for representation.

Sent a quick note in June confirming whether they had received the full manuscript and a few days later I got a reply stating that they had and were still considering my work.

Update: received an email on the weekend apologizing for taking so long with my manuscript, assuring me that it was still under consideration, and that they would get back to me by Friday with an answer. They sent me a form rejection today that looks exactly like the one you get for a query. I wish I could fictionalize my reality - I'd definitely write a better ending to this story ????

PR: additional fifty pages SENT 9/14/18
ER 9/17/18 With a note that says "We do see a lot of potential in the material, and would be interested in taking a look again if there are later drafts."
Perhaps it is time for another edit.

Like others here, I also had the first 50 pages requested, then a few days later the next 50 pages, but then three weeks later a form letter rejection. Better than nothing, I suppose.

If rejected, will submit to Jason Anthony at the same agency as I debated to whom I should submit.

Sent nudge after nearly four months. Should I assume a lack of interest, even though they asked for the second five pages in an MMQ email? Why wouldn't they ask for more pages if interested?

Can someone offer advice on how to "nudge" an agent? MMQ has had a partial manuscript for three months with no response. What's the protocol?

Update: Lotta hoops to jump through for a (mostly) form rejection but it is what it is!

All correspondence with "MMQ": brief and anonymous but polite. A unique submission experience, to be sure - ran out of rounds on my "query status" record. LightofBeauty: I interpret all of this to mean an assistant was reading the sequential 50-page submissions in June, and the October follow-up request for the full MS as one document is for the agent. But who knows? It's like reading entrails.

Like others have mentioned, nothing was signed by Maria Massie, but "MMQ." Kind of odd, as you really have no idea who responded and who is actually going to be reading the partial and/or full. It's great to get a request, though, but would be nice to know who is actually requesting/reading lol.

Also in regards to querying other agents within this agency: this makes it my FOURTH time querying someone in this agency. Two were CNR's and one was a form rejection, so I was surprised that despite those other times being a reject, I got a PR this time around because from my experience, when one agent in the agency rejects, usually the rest do too, and by the third time, feels like there's no point, but something in me figured, heck, why not try it again with someone else? And clearly, it worked.
It truly doesn't hurt to keep querying someone else within the agency since they do allow it after all, and you just never know...
