Like others, I received a strange email containing a password-locked .zip file from query@bresnickagency.com. A bit of investigation with other programs suggests that the file contains malware. This is by far the harshest rejection I've received from any agency. Hopefully, the agency will clarify if they wish for emails sent after a particular date to be resubmitted.

Does this mean that queries sent to the hacked address will be lost? Should we requery to the new email?

Paul Bresnick emailed this:
"That e-mail account has been hacked. Please ignore. Sorry."

I received not only one but two of the strange emails mentioned below, with varying file sizes among the strange zip files. I don't know of any person who responds to correspondence with locked zip files (that's just weird). The number of people getting them within the same time slot compounded with the strange broken English what little of the letter was written in seems to imply that the Bresnick email may have been compromised and is sending spam on mass. I don't suggest anyone open these files until someone can confirm their contents or similarly hears back from the real Bresnick literary team about these suspicious emails. Based on the older QueryTracker comments it seems like at one point or another this email was legitimate.

Edit: The email these are coming from query@bresnickagency.com is not listed on the contact page of their website anymore.

Edit: I can confirm the account was hacked disregard any suspicious emails from the above mentioned IP.

It strikes me as unprofessional that this agency did not send out a warning to everyone that received the spam email. Nothing on their website about it either. Makes me think about all the people who don't use this site and might have unknowingly downloaded the file and gotten their data stolen.

I also received strange message with attachment and a password.
Written in only halfway-passable English, otherwise might have worked.

@thatgirlwrites I received an encrypted file also. I’m assuming it’s spam...?

Received an encrypted zip file from query@bresnickagency.com which I am too terrified to open, in case it contains malware.
