FR: 3/24/17
ER: 5/5/17
Even though Tina was closed to queries in general, she had invited me to query her when I was ready with my next manuscript. She had previously requested a full on another novel of mine. She kept me up to date on her progress throughout the time frame. She loved my main character and writing style, but ultimately felt the pace of the book was too slow for her. A disappointment, but she would be awesome to work with! She left the door open for me to query her with future projects.

EQ: 2/10/15 - YA Contemporary, 57k, from #AgentMatch Twitter contest
FR: 2/11/15 - Full request a day later!
4/12/15 - She nudged me and wanted to make sure my MS was still available since she plans to read it soon.
ER: 5/8/15 - Rejection with a few helpful suggestions and a possibility of her taking a second look if I revised.

EQ: 5/21/16 to see if she'd still be interested in a revised version of my novel, she requested full
Nudge: 8/2/16 - I nudged her to see if she was still reading. She responded and said that she'd get back to me soon.
2nd Nudge: 11/20/16
1/8/17 - R&R, personalized with suggestions to improve and resubmit. She is very nice!

1/29/17 - Emailed to say revisions were ready. Replied asking for full MS.
2/2/17 - ER - She decided she didn't like the voice. It was quite disappointing since original query was 2 years ago and I worked hard on two separate revisions for her. Oh well, I guess. It really hurts, but I'll move on.

Partial request for this historical novel, after having already requested a full on my YA novel, all on the same day! (See previous comments below.): 5/19/16
ER: 9/27/16, primarily because historical novels are not a primary interest of hers. She gave positive feedback with regard to my writing and encouraged me to continue, as well as query again if I had any contemporary YA novels in the future. Tina is a gem and anyone would be lucky to have her as an agent!

Update! I wrote back to Tina asking if she might consider reading additional chapters of my YA novel since the paranormal part is not the heart of the book, the love story is. She agreed to review the full manuscript! Plus, she requested sample chapters from another YA historical novel I have written!

Update: Submitted full manuscript on 5/19/16
ER: 9/12/16, saying she could not connect with the characters as much as she would have liked, though she thought the writing was good and the story was rich and vivid. Tina corresponded with me a number of times when I wrote to check in and also let me know when she had difficulty opening the first attachment of the manuscript I sent. It is so appreciated to have someone willing to take the time to communicate with an author, so you know what is going on, and don't feel like you've fallen into the writer's abyss! She has a partial of another novel I wrote, for which she said she would get back with me soon.

She wrote a very complimentary letter, saying she was torn because she loved my writing, but has difficulty placing anything with a paranormal bend to it. She asked if I had any other manuscripts and said she would be happy to review them. Seems like a wonderful agent. By the way, if you look at their website, they only take queries in May and October!

Received an offer from Tina on Friday! YAY! She's really fantastic!

A comment about Tina: I've been communicating with her off and on since I sent my original query last April. She is *very* approachable. If you've sent her a query and she hasn't responded within the time frame she's indicated on her website, consider sending her a gentle nudge. If she's asked for a partial or a full and hasn't responded, DEFINITELY send her a gentle nudge. She's very open to it and truly gracious about it.

Okay, ya'll -- happy querying! Squeeeeeee!

UPDATE (10/9): Still waiting on an answer, but feeling cautiously optimistic. After not hearing for so long, I gently nudged her last weekend. She responded very quickly, apologized for the delay, and then called me later that afternoon. Still no decision from her, but she's not completely done reading the manuscript. Also found her to be a complete delight. I really do love her as an agent and person and hope she'll take my ms but, if not, I really feel like I'll walk away from this experience feeling positive overall. And, she's not my "last hope" if it comes to that. My ms is still out with 4 other agents and I think a couple of small publishing houses. Time will tell

Submitted a YA novel back in April and received an e-mail that she was excited to read my pages. I didn't hear back from her. In the meantime, I drastically revised my manuscript. I assumed the lack of followup indicated that she'd passed. It took everything in me to "bug her" to ask her to allow me to requery, explaining that I'd revamped. She was so kind and responded really quickly, saying she'd not read the sample pages yet. That was a huge relief and not at all what I expected. Then yesterday, I received a followup e-mail from her, asking for the full ms. I've been following her on Twitter for a while and really like everything I'd seen from her, but I never expected such a kind (long/friendly) e-mail from her.

I sent her the full ms right away and now I wait. I really love everything I've seen from his agent. She's one of my top 2 picks for an agent and I couldn't be more thrilled to have her look at my ms. Now I sit and cross my fingers and hope she loves my manuscript. If she does, I'll be ecstatic. If she declines, I'll be sad; but just knowing that she found redeeming qualities in it is enough to keep me moving forward. Crossing my fingers that Tina loves it, though...I can see the two of us working really well together.

My word of advice for anyone querying her or considering querying her: DO IT. She's absolutely lovely. If you've queried and not heard from her in a long time, gently nudge -- she seems to be open to the nudge. She's one of the few agents I've run across who seems to love not only her job and working with the clients she has, but also truly excited at finding new works.
