Always verify agent's information before sending your query. Verify the agent's query preferences, contact information, genres of interest, and if the agent is still open to queries.

Although QueryTracker tries to stay current, it is not always easy. Never trust any single source for agent information (and yes, this includes QueryTracker).

Review the user comments for more information, and always follow exactly what it says on the agent's website.

And NEVER give money to an "agent".

Leave comments about your experiences with this literary agent, or read what other authors have to say.

Ken Sherman had sent me to an editor. (She was delightful to work with). In his rejection, he told me the same things he had before and recommended that I go to the same editor. Interestingly enough, earlier that day, he said he had lost the manuscript. I do not believe he read the edited manuscript at all, considering it was only a short time later that I received the comments.

thanks, angelscribe. I was a little caught off guard by his interest. I'm very happy to at least make it this far.

Sounds a lot like the old Edit Ink scam.

I queried Ken Sherman with two different projects (2006 & 2010). I had solid referrals who know him; the second time I had even met him personally. Each time he requested my manuscript. Each time he gave me the same standard reply via email: he passed and said I should go to a particular editor and pay her to give me notes. Both times. Smells like a scam to me.

Wow, no one commented here in over a year. Although no referral, I queried him on 4.19. No nudge for this one. I've closed it now.

10/10/11, I queried him without a referral. Two weeks ago, I nudged him. Today I've closed it out.

Thanks Swamproot. It still says suite 211 on his website, but the site doesn't look like something he puts a lot of time into.

I'll trust the post office on this one and change his profile to suite 300.

Snail query was returned immediately with this yellow message stuck on it:

Forward time exp rtn to send
: Ken Sherman & Associates
9507 Santa Monica Blvd Ste 300
Beverly Hills CA 90210-4544

I think this translates from post office speak as, he moved his office from Suite 211 to Suite 300 and the forwarding time has expired.

From a February 2009 interview with Gumbowriters.com:

What's the best way for a writer to reach you?
By referal only, or at a writer's conference, or a class I might be teaching at UCLA or USC, through other clients, attornies and studio people I know, other agents...........
