6/19 Phone call + offer of rep from Stefanie
6/21 Notified Stefanie that I accepted her offer of rep (note I had 5 total offers of rep on the table - ultimately chose Stefanie due to her smaller client list, editorial vision, and belief that she will be very hands-on as I embark on future projects)

Thank you very much for your query below. I enjoyed reading these pages, but I am sorry to say that I didn’t fall in love with the plot. I cannot offer you representation at this time, but I do hope you query me with any projects in the future, if the opportunity arises.
Thank you very much for your query below. I liked the premise of this story, but I am sorry to say that I did not connect with the writing in the way I had hoped. For this reason, and with regret, I cannot offer you representation. However, I wish you every success and hope you will find the perfect home for this material.
After reading below, I now realize this WAS a form. I'd requeried her with a new version, thinking that her "liking of my premise" was genuine. Man, I wish agents wouldn't give compliments on forms, it really gives the wrong impression.
Kind regards,
Stefanie

Kind and semi-personalized (an edited form, very similar to the one hcmarks received), saying she'd sat on it for a bit because she'd been torn about how to proceed. Liked the vivid depiction of place and historical era, but the plot didn't draw her in. Invitation to query her again with other projects in the future.

Her really nice and supportive rejection letter:
Thanks so much for sharing a portion of THE LIBRARY AT THE CENTER OF THE EARTH with me and for your patience while I reviewed it. I apologize for the delayed response—I sat on this for a while because I have been torn about how to proceed. You’re a talented writer, and I was especially taken with your ability to offer the reader such a vivid and well-executed setting. Unfortunately, the plot just did not draw me in as much as I would have liked, so I cannot offer you representation. However, I wish you every success and hope you will find the perfect home for this material.
