When I saw she skipped me yesterday, I thought it was a good sign. Guess not. Oh, well. Onward and upward...

"Thank you for sending your query. Unfortunately I have to pass as this is not quite the right fit for me. I wish you all the best success moving forward and finding the right home for your work."

Not sure if Thulsa_doom did this or not but the wording of their last comment makes me think they didn’t consider this or maybe they didn’t even know to do this one super simple thing. ALWAYS, and I mean ALWAYS let every single agent with anything of yours know when you receive an offer of representation. Queries, partials, synopsis, first five pages, or WHATEVER they could possibly have, just let them know.

It’s EXTREMELY rude not to. It’s like if somebody asked you out and you decided to go on a date with them only to find out they’ve already started dating somebody in the meantime. You’d hate that, right?

The same deal applies here. So please, please, PUH-LEASE let agents know. You could be in their maybe folder or their TBR again folder and not even know it. Also, I’m not an agent and don’t intern for one. This is just something I see a lot that makes me cringe because it’s just rude, inconsiderate, and in all honesty, just plain tacky.

Full request after 2 weeks, however I've already received an offer in the meantime so must decline.

Query: 5/31
Emailed me asking if this was the same story I queried last year. It's in the same world with different premise and characters

ER 4/18/18 (Sounded generic - see below)

Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to read [novel]. I am sorry to say I did not connect with this the way I need to when offering representation and I'm going to pass. Please remember, I am just one reader and what's not right for me will be perfect for another agent. I wish you all the best success moving forward and finding the right home for your work.
