An hour after that, Brent emailed me back to say he enjoyed what he'd read but thought it might be a stronger match for a different agent at his firm. He gave me details about who to reach out to and wished me well. I'm disappointed it didn't speak to him, because he sounds awesome, but the way this went down hardly even feels like a rejection. He sounds like an awesome agent for anyone thinking of going with him.

6-24-18 Sent a rhyming picture book of a little over 100 words to Mr. Taylor.

6-25-18 Received a reply from Mr. Taylor saying it wasn't the right fit for him. At least the rejection slip was encouraging, as he advised me to continue with my writing and wished me success with this story.

Sent a very nice form rejection:
Dear Kayla,

Thank you so much for sharing DREAM CATCHERS with me. There's much to admire, but I'm ultimately just failing to feel the drop-everything passion that's required of me to make an offer of representation. I have to love everything that I work on wholeheartedly, and I just don't feel that special connection here despite your wonderful writing. I wish you the absolute best of luck with your writing career and hope you'll continue to query the project.

My best,
Brent
