Finally received a response on April 8, 2021. A Form Rejection. I had never received a rejection saying my project was similar in topic/premise to one she already has, but in looking at all the comments, she seems to frequently use that excuse. Just a different slant on a form rejection.

My query was skipped. I thought using a form query, you are sure to get a response either way.

I sent my full to her five months ago, and emailed her to check in about a month ago. Two weeks ago she said she'd have thoughts for me in a week. I'd love to hear back from her, but I'm not sure if I should check in again.

Pitched via Agency pitch event on 11/6/20 - She and her assistant, Madison, invited me to send them my query and first 5-6 chapters, along with blurbs for the planned sequels and a synopsis. Both Julie and Madison were lovely and very easy to talk with.

Submitted first 6 chapters on 11/19/20

Full Request on 12/18/20, submitted on 12/20/20

Full R&R request on 1/21/21- Julie went above and beyond in providing me with feedback on my full. She pointed out the areas that need tending to, and said I am welcome to resubmit to her should I revise. I am definitely revising and resubmitting, even if she ends up not choosing to rep. me, her advice is gold.

Submitted Full R&R on 3/31/21- Julie responded the next morning & said she would take a look and let me know her thoughts; also requested a revised synopsis, which I sent to her, as well.

Adult High Fantasy - original wc: 114k; revised wc: 111k

@yamifan222, when I first pitched to Julie, she mentioned 115k was a touch too long for an adult fantasy and that we'd have to work on cutting it if she decided to rep me. I'm assuming she's looking for something closer to the 110k range as a maximum wc.

Magical Realism Fantasy, 112K. Complimented my other work in their response even though it was a rejection.

Julie liked my pitch on a twitter DVPIT pitch event so I queried her. I then had very much the same experience as @LaurenSeeWrites and after sending the first 5 pages in April 2020, was then requested for the full manuscript. Was eventually sent a revision letter and Julie loved the story (sci-fi 104k) Two character names were misspelled in her letter and there was a dodgy date scheduling a call. I sent her my revised changes in July and Julie clarified the date which she suggested to schedule for next week. Never heard back. Utterly disappointing but perhaps I dodged a bullet.

Adult Contemporary Romance 88k

FYI for anyone querying adult fantasy, 140k is too long for this agent and it will be rejected based on word count. not sure what her word count cutoff is but thought I'd flag in case it helps.

My totally finished and edited work is actually 300K words. But my author coach told me that big numbers will scare away agents so I cut it into 3 parts (per her suggestion). I submitted 68K to this agent and I just got a rejection letter with the comment "(Your Book) is a little light on word count and so I will have to pass". Shoot!

My first rejection and it was a form letter indicating I was not a good fit. Received it the same day of submission. But when I went to the site--I would have to agree with her assessment.
