She recently announced on her Twitter that she'll be open to queries again in August. Even though she seemed to have been so emotionally in tune with my project from the start, and encouraged me to re-submit after she had to let all projects go last year, I won't be re-querying, BUT I encourage everyone to give Mary a shot! She's wonderful.

Ms. Moore sent a wonderful, personalized message in response to her stepping aside from my project. She gave feedback on the sample pages I sent and spoke of specific characters and situations, and added the reason why she didn't connect with the project. I wouldn't hesitate to query her again with future projects!

10-13 she sent a very kind note explaining due to the fires in her area she has to close / delete all submissions & to re-submit when she opens again. she seems like such a good person - i really hope she is ok out there :(

from her website: "I try my best to read and respond to submissions within a reasonable time frame. If you have not heard back from me within a week or two, it means I have set aside your submission for further consideration and it may take me a few months to respond."

Mary is a gem and a class act. She liked my pitmad tweet, I sent her the first five pages. She responded the next day, she gave it a "pass for now" with very constructive feedback and passionate, encouraging words that sounded like she truly believed in my project and wanted to see more even though she didn't feel like it was ready yet, but couldn't wait to see it progress and to keep her posted on it. It was basically an R and an R&R all at once lol, tad confusing, but nothing but encouraging, positive, and uplifting. She's just a wonderful person. I don't expect her to still want my manuscript, still keeping my options open and still querying, but that she gave me so much to work with and sounded so sincerely passionate is enough for me to know that she's a great agent, and that any author would be so lucky to work with her.

10/9 I forgot to post when I re-sent her the newly rewritten first 5-10 pages again (around early August or September?) that she was happy to see again, never heard back from her, I let it alone figuring she'd reach out to me. Figured I'd give her a nudge today (because why not?) to let her know how much the manuscript has changed since her pitmad like in June, she responded very quickly apologizing for not responding back to that email, and she requested a full.

Seriously, folks, Mary is the nicest agent out there. Even with a nudge, she's so kind, approachable, and friendly. She gave me more feedback to just 5-10 pages than most agents have given over a partial or full, makes me look forward to what she'll say to the full even if it's a rejection!

10/13 Mary sent me a lovely email (similar to what she posted on her blog) about how she has to unfortunately close to submissions and let go of the manuscripts that she was considering. I could tell that this was not an easy decision for her. I'm by no means disappointed, Mary was my first pitmad like and the first agent to believe in this project even more than I did. Like I said, she gave me more feedback and love to just 5-10 pages than any agent has given to a partial or full (so far). She will always have a special place in this book's journey whether it makes it on the shelves or not. She wants me to keep her posted on the manuscript and hopes to see it on shelves one day too. Like I said from the very beginning, Mary is a gem and a class act :).

Temporarily Closing To Submissions
Published on October 12, 2017 by Mary C. Moore
Due to the wildfire situation where I live in Sonoma County, California, I am closing to submissions temporarily. My family, home, and I are all safe. But we are on constant advisory for potential evacuation pending wind patterns and our community is busy with evacuees from neighboring affected areas.

Because the majority of my focus is on this new reality, I have fallen way behind. Any extra time or energy I have must be used to meet my client needs. Therefore I apologize, but I won’t be reading any submissions, including those already in my inbox, at least until the fires have been contained, and our community has begun to pick up the pieces. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding.

If you do wish to withdraw your submission, please respond to the auto-response you received after you filled out the submission form. If you receive an offer of representation or publication please do keep me updated.

As of this afternoon, the situation in my neighborhood looks positive. My family and I have been lucky, but so many are not. If you are looking for a way to help, here is a gift card donation drive by a local club:

Thank you for your query. Please know I carefully considered your project, but don't feel I can offer representation at this time.

Keep going with it., and are great resources for researching literary agents. I wish you the best of luck.
