I submitted a "non-fiction" query email to Mr. Diforio on September 27, 2017.

I received my first response on October 1, 2017 asking "Is the manuscript now finished?"

I responded on October 2, 2017 "No, I have a very rough draft of the entire story and a book proposal that includes one chapter, which I would be happy to send."
Mr. Diforio responded a second time on October 2, 2017 "No thanks.I don’t think I would be able to sell a partial fiction ms."

I then responded on October 2, 2017 "It is not a partial fiction manuscript. Where are you getting that from? and I have spent over 15 years making it as historically accurate as I can make it."

Mr. Diforio has chosen not to respond to my last two emails.

Nowhere in my original query letter email is there ANY mention of my "ms" manuscript being partially fiction, and the subject specifically states non-fiction. I have no idea why Mr. Diforio thinks that is the case.

EQ - 8/21/17
Bob replied, saying he forwarded my email to his colleague Julie (in New Zealand)
ER - 8/27/17 - Julie replied to Bob: I liked this concept but unfortunately I wasn’t hooked enough by either the writing or the storytelling to ask for more.

Thanks KristenH. I can confirm I received the same error. I sent off an enquiry to his other address, but since I'm not sure he wants queries there or not, I'll mark him closed until I learn more.

Patrick, the reader@d4eo.com email address didn't work. It came back as a mailer-daemon on Friday.

I'm really crossing my fingers on this one. He seems like a great guy and agent from what I've read.

Would be a perfect fit for my mystery novel.

Same day rejection--he passed, overwhelmed with current clientele list. I might try him this summer with Chain Reaction after I do Joyce Holland next month with Venom.

Although he rejected my work, he went the extra mile to help me. he did not have to do this, he could have just rejected me out of hand like most agents, but he didn't.
I highly recommend that anyone with a Non-fiction work give him a shot, really.

Lightning fast! I've had a book published before with Adams Media without an agent, and he said the Bookscan numbers just weren't good enough for him to take a chance on this new one. But he said other agents might disagree and wished me well, so not the worst rejection ever.
