Short, personalized rejection saying my story is "a bit too bizarre" for him. Going to try not to take this as an insult. It's a twisted psych thriller, yes, but I don't think it's bizarre. Oh well. Just means he wasn't the right agent. Stinks, though, as he's such a good agent for thrillers.

FYI, for everyone getting the bounce-back email - I resubmitted my full to Bob and Erica after undergoing a rewrite (see comment below), and I kept getting the bounce-back no matter what file format I used. It was confusing, because on at least one email I sent previously I got the bounce-back AND a reply from Bob. Finally, yesterday, after I sent the same email and attachment several times asking for confirmation he sent me this:

Sorry to report that has been hacked.
Senders to my email address receive NON DELIVERY NOTICES despite that fact that I actually do receive all emails.
Sorry for the confusion.

So that's pretty disconcerting, but I guess he's actually getting the emails? Hopefully it's an issue that he can fix soon!

EQ Thriller Querry 129K 7/29/22

Initial e-mail bounced back as undeliverable and I resubmitted with the manuscript as a PDF. (Thanks for the tip nutmeg618!)
Response 7/31/22 that he was passing it on to his literary assistant.

Submitted FM on 6/15
Rejection on 6/16 replied, "No thanks, not for me."
E-mails again on 6/21 to reject a second time (I only submitted once but received two rejections a week apart). "I think this novel is promising, but I don't think that you should pursue it any further,
That is but one person's opinion, of course and hopefully, other agents will feel differently.
We wish you every success."

Query Submitted 6/14.
Response 4 hours later:
I am sharing your email and manuscript with Erica Martin, my trusted literary assistant who has a keen eye for publishable manuscripts.
One of us will get get back to you.
Thanks for contacting us.

@pamelakyel - I got the same bounce back for my initial query. I switched from a Word doc format to a PDF and it went through just fine.

He asks for the complete novel upfront. Has anyone done this? I'm nervous about sending an entire MS due to copying or plagiarizing. Anyone else?

I emailed a query with first two chapters and immediately received an email back, though it doesn't specify if it's from this sight or not, but I believe it is. Email stated, undeliverable, return to sender. So, who knows.

I received this reply 11/16 Apparently he is closed to queries although this not reflected in QT or his website

I find my current workload is such that I am unable to consider new representation for the time being.

Consequently, I must wish you well with another agent.

Not entirely clear from their website, but I received a rejection that made clear that a no from one agent is a no from all.

Turned down in minutes. It surprises me that they would ask for a genre and place themselves out there for queries and not even read what you send.

He responded within 15 minutes, saying the idea was good but that because I don't have a platform the book wouldn't fly. I talked him into reconsidering, which he is doing.

EQ - 8/21/17
Bob replied, saying he forwarded my email to his colleague Julie (in New Zealand)
ER - 8/27/17 - Julie replied to Bob: I liked this concept but unfortunately I wasn’t hooked enough by either the writing or the storytelling to ask for more.
