Jeanimal - thank you. I jumped the gun last night and sent two since I couldn't find the guidelines. Where did you find them?

EQ 2019-03-03 via online form. I sent two chapters instead of one because I, too, was confused about what he was looking for and all the agents ask for different things at Curtis Brown. Numbers varied from 10 pages to 50 pages. Two chapters is 29 pages for me and ends at a good cutoff point, so it seemed like the best bet. I'll let folks know if I find out whether or not this was a good call.

Question - there's a place for a sample or proposal beneath the query, but I can't find anything indicating how long a sample should be. Does anyone know? Have any of you sent sample chapters?

EQ: 10/15/ 2018 (form)
ER: 1/3/ 2019

Form letter with an unhelpful form comment (doesn't make much sense in the context of the novel that was submitted and therefore not very useful).

Online form: 9/26/18 70k literary fairy tale retelling
Received this message upon submitting:
"Thank you. Your query has been submitted. You should receive an automated confirmation email from salpeterformletters [at] If you do not receive this confirmation please email your query there."
Update: found confirmation email in my junk folder an hour later.
12/13/18: Nudged with offer of rep. He said he'd get on reading the chapters and let me know.
1/2/19: Reminded him of deadline, and he very politely stepped-aside. Super nice comments--he seems fantastic.

PSbookish - EQ: Email query, ER: Email rejection, FR: Full request (of a manuscript), PR: Partial request (of a manuscript), and CNR: Closed No Response are the most common ones used here.

Used the online form 12/26/2018. Have already written the book hopefully that helps.

I don't understand any of these acronyms that people keep using. I think EQ is when they send the query but I can't be sure. I have no Idea what the other things are. So I will try to update things if I can by writing everything out. I don't even know if I can edit because it is literally my first day that I have used a site.
