"While we enjoyed reading your submission, which stood out from the many we receive, we couldn't find a place for it on Karolina's list at this time, and therefore we are afraid we are not able to offer you representation for this project. Hi AftonR. Have you tried contacting them via this email address: CBCsubmissions@curtisbrown.co.uk (under the CONTACT US section on the bottom of the web page)?

I tried to submit to Karolina after submitting to a different agent at Curtis Brown, but the form would not let me because I'd submitted with that title before. Has anyone else had this problem? I didn't see on their website that a rejection from one agent is a rejection from them all.

EQ7/7
ER 7/8 Thank you for sending us ********* and for giving us the opportunity to consider your work. While we enjoyed reading your submission, which stood out from the many we receive, we didn't feel that Karolina would be the right agent in this instance, and therefore we are afraid we are not able to offer you representation for this project. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to consider your material and we wish you every success with your writing.

Got a rejection today. Boo. But at least the feedback was positive and constructive and it was obvious that she'd read it thoroughly for which Im grateful

Sent excerpt through Curtis Brown online system FAO Karolina back in July 2016. Heard nothing for ages and assumed it was a no but then was contacted by Karolina's assistant, herself an agent, Lucy Morris, asking for the full in November 2016. Since then I've had a few emails from time to time letting me know they're considering this and then last week an email from Lucy saying she's read the full and it's now with Karolina. Who knows? Nice to have some communication, at least, especially as it seems so rare with many agencies. Watch this space...

Update: It was rejected with a slightly modified form letter after 155 days.

The website says they respond to all queries within 12 weeks, and to follow up if you haven't heard back. I sent an email to follow up after about 14 weeks, they confirmed that my query was received, and I'm trying to not get my hopes up since I've still not been rejected and it seems like rejections come quickly...

Query sent Sunday - rejection received Monday - it said 'While we enjoyed reading your submission, which stood out from the many we receive, we couldn't find a place for it on Karolina's list and therefore we are afraid we are not able to offer you representation for the project.' This might seem encouraging, but on reading below 'it stood out from the rest of the submissions, but she couldn't find a place for it on her list.' I wonder if it is still a type of form rejection reply.

7/1 EQ – YA fantasy novel
7/9 Nudge with offer of representation
7/22 Requested full manuscript
7/24 Passed

She was lovely to communicate with, and a very fast reader. She complimented the manuscript, but said that as she didn't have a clear publication vision for it, she was going to step aside.
