Really cool, she somehow stumbled across an old #PitMad Tweet of mine and asked if the MS was still available. I had just finished final revisions for the first fifty pages, so I queried. Her wait time was something like three months for queries, but she requested pages (first 50) the same day, and I got them over to her right off. She just requested the full last week--again impeccable timing, I had about 50 pages left to revise--and I sent it within a day. She seems really cool, and gives great advice on Twitter. She also mega complimented my query, which gave me warm fuzzies. Wish me luck, and luck to everyone else waiting to hear back! :)

92 days to reply. Either had some holidays, or maybe I sat in 'maybe' for a bit?

started out like it was somewhat personal but then I realized it was written by someone else.

Semi-personalized rejection. Initial comments about being too tell-y and not using enough of the five senses in the opening, so the manuscript didn't quite come alive for her. The rest of the rejection is form.

I queried her on July 3rd, and I have yet to hear back from her. It's been 104 days... CNR?

Included this sentence: "We enjoyed the premise, but unfortunately, your beginning showcases too much telling, as opposed to showing, of your main character's actions and emotions, which distances your readers from truly connecting to your character and wanting to read more. "

I don't know how seriously to take this, It sounds like a form rejection to me. Maybe she has a range of replies and she checks one for each rejection. Anyway, the rejection itself is not at all unusual.

spirit_queen24, I wouldn't sweat it. She posted on Twitter at some point that she tries to personalize each rejection, which is why some take longer to process. It's an unusual and laudable effort, and one I'd hope she doesn't abandon, even if it means frustrating delays.

Personalized rejection explaining why the opening didn't work for her. She was supportive and made very reasonable points on what she thought hampered it. I'm grateful that she took the time to write that out! It's always nice to get constructive criticism and helpful feedback.
