Just queried Kate regarding a manuscript I submitted in September, and she said the same thing. It's on her website as well.
No more fiction. Only craft projects.

"Thanks for your interest in working with me. I’m about to update my website to this effect, but I wanted to let you know that I have decided that, effective immediately, Epstein Literary will only accept new projects in the area of crafts."

So there you have it. Bummer.

At DorothyDryer, I submitted to Ms. Unter on 10/6/12, a YA historical fantasy. No word yet, of course, but I'll update if I do.

Oops. Never saw that she wasn't open to fiction (it didn't say on her website!) and I queried her 9/12. I guess I should assume this is a no, huh?!

Wait a minute... this is OLD information. In case anyone else is confused, this is what her website says NOW:

As of June 25, 2012, I am considering new clients solely in the categories of crafts and fiction for young people. Please see my guidelines page for details.

Does anyone here still have material out with her (particularly fiction)?

Open to non-fiction queries only. Fiction queries by referral only.

Her website says the following: "As of September, 2011, I have decided to re-open broadly to nonfiction submissions only, and to fiction for young people (ages, say, 7-19) by referral only. Thank you for your interest in working with me and please see my guidelines page for details."

So she's open, but only by referral for fiction.

Hmm... Either she changed her mind about her reopening date or she hasn't removed the auto reply message yet. Either way, I'll mark her closed again until she confirms opening. Thanks.

Yep. I queried and got, "Hello, thank you for your interest in working with me. I’m afraid I’m closed to new clients at this time and your message has been deleted. Please consult my website after September 1, 2011, if you wish to query me in the future."

So I guess she's not quite open yet.
