An extremely personalized rejection detailing what worked and what didn't work for her. It was so kind and I think Melissa would be incredible to work with!

Her revise and resubmit email was detailed helpful, the kind of feedback you can act on. It was also very kind. I had another agent reject my full for this manuscript with a form rejection, which was super frustrating. I gather from oaklandjpg's comment that these detailed rejections for fulls are standard operating procedure for Ms. Nasson, which straight up shows class. I bet she'd be a really wonderful agent to have as your own.

Form rejection same wording as DNE424 below.(" I was so taken with your creative premise, but I just wasn't feeling drawn back to the manuscript as a reader.") Disappointed but not complaining. A form rejection email is much better than silence from an agent

11/14/18 - I received a non-exclusive R&R from another agent a few months earlier. Once I finished revisions, I reached out to agents who had read the first manuscript, explaining what I'd changed, and Melissa was one of them.
11/26/18 - She requested to see the revised manuscript!!!

Nudge with Offer: 1/13
FR: 1/17
1/23: I emailed her indicating I did not accept the offer; she wrote back and thanked me for the update, told me she's still reading and appreciates the extra time. Seems very nice and communicative.
Nudge with Offer to Publish with a small press: 3/9
3/9: Melissa said she's still reading, will finish ASAP with thoughts. I indicated I'd make specific revisions to first chapters, and she requested to see the revisions. She is so responsive and seems quite kind. I have fingers crossed!
Update: Melissa rejected the manuscript. Said she loves my writing and thinks it's strong ("the mystery kept me turning pages"), but ultimately she didn't connect with my protag (anti-hero). This is all fine, though sad and disappointing, but guys -- she is the most helpful agent EVER. "If I may offer a word of unsolicited advice: if your aspirations are higher than a small press, don't take their offer. For what it's worth, I think you have talent, and I think your manuscript deserves better." It hurt to hear this, but in the end it's been SOOOO helpful. Also, I wrote her back and asked her to clarify her advice. She did write back and told me why she didn't think the small press was good for me. Then she said: "If I were you, I would be patient and keep querying. You shouldn't settle for agents who aren't legit or publishers who won't do much for your career. If you've been querying for a long time and you're losing patience, maybe consider shelving it and writing something new! I'd be more than open to reading something new from you in the future."

She's amazing.

4/12/18 - I revised my manuscript and asked her to take another look. She requested the full again.
7/3 - I told her I'd received an R&R from another agent and would she like to take a look after that revision. She replied, "If the R&R is addressing any of these issues, I'd be happy to take another look! Otherwise, I'm afraid I'm just not the right agent. I'm just not feeling passionate enough about the characters and story to be a champion for it in its current form." I indicated the R&R definitely addresses the issues she had with it, and now she is AGAIN re-reading. She is such an advocate for writers. I mean, how many chances has she given me?! She's so incredible!

9/7/18 - I received ANOTHER R&R offer from another agent, and she wanted me to re-send when completed.
10/10 - sent revised version; Melissa confirmed receipt on 10/15
10/29/18 - Kind step-aside upon offer of rep. She is so wonderful. She gave me multiple opportunities over the course of 2 years!!
