ER: 1/12/17 (A very kind, personalized rejection with thoughtful notes and an offer to look at it again should I choose to revise. She seems truly lovely.)

EQ (finally went through!): 10/7
Full req: 10/7 TWO MINUTES LATER (WHAT!?!)

So glad I didn't give up, y'all! I didn't paste a full ten pages since I had a curse word, and it finally went through! Guess I should've tried sooner. Silly me. :) Thanks again for everyone's help.

Update: Nudge sent - 12/1

12/7: Lucy responded to my nudge saying she'd like more time to consider. She was very sweet in her reply. :)

12/14/16 I'm telling you, getting rejections around this time of year hurt a little more. Lucy ultimately rejected my novel but had some very nice editorial notes. I asked if she'd be willing to look at a revision. Will keep you posted.
Update-- Lucy agreed to a revise & resubmit and gave me additional editorial notes that are very helpful. She also said her door is open to any future work I have as well. :)

R&R on 12/7

She has good ideas for changes; as soon as I finish up another project (shouldn't take more than a week) then I'll look into it.

UPDATE: Response 12-8-16- probably a form, but she added some editorial standpoints to it that made my day. Probably one of the nicest rejections I've gotten.

Response:
Dear Victoria,

You’re clearly a great writer, but I’m afraid I’m just not connecting with the project for my list and don’t think I would be the book’s best advocate. (If I can offer one piece of editorial feedback from what I’ve seen here, I’d urge you to combine the second book, where we learn what really happened from Benjamin’s perspective, with the first book… I think that’s part of your hook.)

Best of luck in finding an enthusiastic publishing partner! Thank you for giving me the opportunity to consider your work.

Kind regards,

Lucy

I know that it's a bit early to be closing it, but I'm trying to clean up my query list for the upcoming holidays. I truly don't think she's going to respond.
YA with romantic sub-plot 70k

I ended up sending it two times- the first time I got a message back saying that the email had permanently failed to send (I'm assuming it was either due to cuss words in the manuscript sample, or maybe the fact that I had the word suicide in my query... I re-wrote my query, and sent her the sample in a Word document).

duke25, when did you query? When did Lucy request?

One of the few if only agent in this long process that has ever given me the time of day to actually write back when I ask for an update on a full request; she is an incredibly fast reader from my own experience and very, very kind. I sincerely hope to work with her. She's great!

Thanks to everyone that congratulated me on the offer! I accepted Lucy's offer last week and couldn't be happier! I hope everyone finds their right match soon!

I know the queries are read in random order, as I got my full request after someone after me got theirs.

I suggest send a nudge around 3 months or so.

Dear God, I hope not, because I sent mine right before VEHust! Maybe the agent reads them in a random order? She didn't indicate in her email what he response methods are.
