Most thoughtful rejection I've ever gotten with interest in my WIP went and if I query it. I will defiantly query her if the full requests I have out don't pan out with this novel.
FYI: It took 71 days for her to respond to the query. Long wait.

She's SO nice! She told me what she did and didn't like. While she stepped aside, she did offer to look at it again if I made significant changes. I've already ripped apart the beginning since I queried her so I'm definitely going to bring her notes into the revisions and resend. :)

ER 1/31/17 but turned into revise and resubmit full.
ER on full 3/31 with reasons she couldn't take it on and what she liked.

Sent revised full ms on 2/20 and got a response back the next morning that she's looking forward to seeing what I've done.
YA Fantasy

Lucy sent me a very personalized rejection with a lot of valid points that I had already begun making revisions on, so I took a chance, asking her if she would let me query again after my revisions were complete. She said she would rather read the full once I have pushed it as far as I am able, so what started as a rejection turned into a revise and resubmit. Lucy is lovely and I am very excited to send revisions. She is one of my top picks so fingers crossed!

ER: 3/13/17 - I was blown away by her thoughtful, personalized rejection. Ms. Cleland gave me a few notes about what she loved and why she was stepping aside. She mentioned a bit of my personal background from my query that intrigued her, and said that she would be interested in reading material from me about it in the future, should I write it. All in all, Ms. Cleland has shown herself to be a wonderful agent. It's a shame we can't work together on this project, but I wish her only the best.

****fyi Lucy told me they have a problem with yahoo email addresses getting stuck in their spam filters. So if you're emailing from yahoo & haven't heard anything you may want to follow up.

EQ (finally went through!): 10/7
Full req: 10/7 TWO MINUTES LATER (WHAT!?!)

So glad I didn't give up, y'all! I didn't paste a full ten pages since I had a curse word, and it finally went through! Guess I should've tried sooner. Silly me. :) Thanks again for everyone's help.

Update: Nudge sent - 12/1

12/7: Lucy responded to my nudge saying she'd like more time to consider. She was very sweet in her reply. :)

12/14/16 I'm telling you, getting rejections around this time of year hurt a little more. Lucy ultimately rejected my novel but had some very nice editorial notes. I asked if she'd be willing to look at a revision. Will keep you posted.
Update-- Lucy agreed to a revise & resubmit and gave me additional editorial notes that are very helpful. She also said her door is open to any future work I have as well. :)

R&R on 12/7

She has good ideas for changes; as soon as I finish up another project (shouldn't take more than a week) then I'll look into it.

UPDATE: Response 12-8-16- probably a form, but she added some editorial standpoints to it that made my day. Probably one of the nicest rejections I've gotten.

Dear Victoria,

You’re clearly a great writer, but I’m afraid I’m just not connecting with the project for my list and don’t think I would be the book’s best advocate. (If I can offer one piece of editorial feedback from what I’ve seen here, I’d urge you to combine the second book, where we learn what really happened from Benjamin’s perspective, with the first book… I think that’s part of your hook.)

Best of luck in finding an enthusiastic publishing partner! Thank you for giving me the opportunity to consider your work.

Kind regards,

I know that it's a bit early to be closing it, but I'm trying to clean up my query list for the upcoming holidays. I truly don't think she's going to respond.
YA with romantic sub-plot 70k

I ended up sending it two times- the first time I got a message back saying that the email had permanently failed to send (I'm assuming it was either due to cuss words in the manuscript sample, or maybe the fact that I had the word suicide in my query... I re-wrote my query, and sent her the sample in a Word document).
