Popping back on QT after several years away to write a note about how amazing this agent is. So, if you do a bit of scrolling, you'll see I was offered rep by Danielle back in 2018. However, after lots of agonizing, I declined her offer of rep. (I was offered by two additional agents, and I made a hasty decision to sign with the agent who had the most impressive client list, despite the fact that I felt Danielle Bukowski was a better fit for my work.) So, three years later, I declined a contract extension with my previous agent. We had not sold my novel, and it was clear that our visions for the book and future work were quite divergent. So after completing another manuscript, I queried Danielle, offering an exclusive read of the new book. Danielle was gracious and quick to respond. She read the new book and offered me rep earlier this month (September 2021), and I'm so happy to have signed with her. I finally feel like I'm with an agent who will be a true advocate for me and my work. Danielle is professional, enthusiastic, and kind--and of course, she is a great reader and gives good notes. All that to say, don't hesitate to submit to this excellent agent.

I submitted in June using the form on her personal website, and have yet to hear back. It seems, however, that she generally responds very quickly, which makes me wonder: has anyone else used her website, or have most people submitted through the Sterling Lord site? Feel free to message me. Thanks!

Super fast rejection by form letter. Better a quick no than a slow no, I think.

Met her at a conference in 2018, she requested the full by email a few days later. I wasn't ready to send it then.

Full sent via email (in reply to hers) on Feb 5, 2021.

May 24, 2021 -- she just saw my email to her. Said she'd be happy to read if I hadn't found representation. Told her I was working on a revision and would send it in about a month.

Thank you for querying me; while your plot is unique, I'm afraid I just didn't fall in love with the writing in these pages enough to feel I'd be your best advocate, so must regretfully pass.

Personalized, somewhat-helpful rejection based on a comment I made in my query letter. Appreciate the fast turn-around (2 days!) and knowing exactly why she passed :)

Really lovely rejection. May have been a form, but felt personal-ish. She seems great.

Rejected full 6/19 gave me very thoughtful, sensitive feedback saying what she liked and didn't care for. I wouldn't want to change what she doesn't like so it wouldn't make sense to work with her. It's reassuring that they read a full and think it through as she did.
