FQ on 12/1
FR on 12/3 through the query portal.
Picture book. 780 words. Rhyming and lyrical.
Was glad to get a quick response.

Sorry about the trouble, Jess. As you probably know, the QueryManager system is a product of QueryTracker so I'm very interested in any problems there may have been. Both of your uploads went through fine, so there should not have been any issues there. The problem may have been because you were sending messages via email instead of using the message system available on QueryManager. If you use QueryManager messages, then your message is automatically attached to your query for easy reference. But a regular email wouldn't do that and could get lost. Also, if you sent it to her old query email address, it may take a while before it is seen and then matched up to the appropriate query.

Have you tried giving her a nudge through the QueryManager message system? Of course, this time of year it might take while to hear back even if you did. But it's worth a try.

I agree with Jefnamc. One of the less professional agencies I've seen. And I think, at best, Jodell's online writing courses present a conflict of interest. I would hope she isn't taking money from clients/prospective clients. Most reputable agents offer editorial guidance for free.

Since I'm brand new at sending queries, I didn't know that I couldn't submit to a different agent. I was rejected by one agent and when I sent to Jodell Sadler she let me know that the rejection applied to every agent in their firm. Well excuse me.

Submitted MG novel on 09/06/17, on 09/07/17, she sent a rejection with a helpful criticism and an invitation to re-submit if I choose to make some changes.

On 3/7 I had an emailed offer of representation from Jill and Jodell. We tried setting up a phone call but the agents were busy, which I understood. I wrote to say I wished to take 2 weeks to go through the contract (I hired a lawyer who works with Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts) and to get responses from other agents with whom I had queries. On 3/8 I was told my wait time was "highly unusual" and that the process was becoming a "circus." I thought this was standard protocol, but they rescinded the contract on 3/8.
