I subbed Natascha a YA manuscript on 9/1. Got a form rejection yesterday. There's a line in the form that reads false knowing that at least 3 others received the same rejection line yesterday, "[...] sorry to have taken so long to get back to you. Sometimes I need a little longer to sit with a manuscript, but I've gone over your query and sample pages and, I'm sorry, this one just isn't quite working for me." It's also strange to me that the line implies that the story had something that made her sit with it longer, implying she read the query/pages, but then at the end of her form, she recommended a picture book resource to help take my YA manuscript to the next level.
