This may well be a form, but knowing that the reason for rejection was that it tended too far toward the commercial was actually comforting. Upmarket is the goal, so I need a shade of commercial mixed in with the literary. Although the agency site states they can't reply to all and you'll only hear if the agent is interested, she took the time to respond to this one, so I'll consider this a "winning" rejection.
