Shoeless, thanks for the kind words!

Don't mark as a reject too soon - I won the Agent's Inbox contest, so I may have been fast tracked in her queue. And even if it is a reject, you'll probably get excellent feedback, and maybe even a chance to resubmit. Hoping for good things for you!

That's impressive, congratulations, she must see a lot of potential in your work if she's taking the time to call you and talk about changes. You're definitely on the right track.

Unfortunately for me, I think I should probably take this as a sign I have a rejection incoming. She asked for a full back in March, and if she's getting in touch with other people already about fulls submitted even later than that, it's a safe bet my story didn't engage her as much. Disappointing, but it happens.

I had an R&R call last week with Ms. Piraino. Her notes and feedback were extremely insightful and encouraging. She seems like she'd be a fantastic agent, is quick to communicate, and is making herself available while I work on the changes, so I'm giving this R&R a shot. Query her!

30 days, rejection:

"While I found your characters interesting, I personally didn’t connect with the voice, and because of this, I feel that I cannot represent this novel to the best of its ability."

It seems she alters it slightly. Better than 100% form (if it's actually her reaction).

I'm now accepting entries for this week's round of "An Agent's Inbox" with Ms. Piraino:

Get feedback on your query and first FIVE pages from your peers and Ms. Piraino. There are still a few slots left (and Ms. Piraino said you're welcome to enter if you already queried but haven't heard back from her yet)!
