89k YA fantasy

Slightly personalized form rejection. Said she liked aspects of the premise but it didn't grab her by the heart enough as the YA market is pretty crowded right now. Encouraged me to keep searching and not give up, and said that numerous agents may be a good fit. She wished me luck. I appreciated the time she took to give me that encouragement. Seems incredibly kind!

Slightly personalized form letter: she didn't like the premise, and she usually only reps books between 50 - 100k words.

Unfortunately, my word count was too high for her; the fantasy elements as well. Bummer.

"Thank you for your query. Please know I carefully considered your project, but I don’t feel I can offer representation at this time. The marketplace is more selective than ever and I must keep a modest list.

I like the premise of this, however, I didn't connect with the story in all the ways I had hoped. This is completely subjective, so don't give up! Nevertheless, I wish you every success with [my novel].

Keep going with it, there are numerous agents out there that may be a good fit. I wish you the best of luck!"

A very kind form letter for a one-day rejection on a 50-page sample.

That rejection was really, really quick. The response was a very nice form letter that was at seems at least a little customized.

Nicely worded form rejection, which is still a form rejection. Had some actual hope on this one, since her MSWL really leans heavily on the kind of stuff I write. May be time to retire this manuscript, when even agents who ask for this kind of thing bounce it back in three days, the manuscript isn't likely to catch on anywhere.
