Dorian took two weeks to respond to my YA Sci Fi sub, but she also took the time to read and provide a really nice and personalised email. Good luck to all who query her. She seems great!

Slightly personalized form rejection. Very nice of her to take the time to reject at all (and so kindly). Seems like a wonderful agent. Anyone would be lucky to work with her. Best of luck to everyone querying! See reject below.

"Dear myname,
Thank you for your query. Please know I carefully considered your project, but I don’t feel I can offer representation at this time. The marketplace is more selective than ever and I must keep a modest list.
I loved the premise of this--definitely up my alley--however, the story didn't pull me in as much as I had hoped. Nevertheless, I wish you every success with TITLE! Don't give up!
Keep going with it, there are numerous agents out there that may be a good fit. I wish you the best of luck!
Warmly,
Dorian "

Slightly personalized form rejection. Said she liked aspects of the premise but it didn't grab her by the heart enough as the YA market is pretty crowded right now. Encouraged me to keep searching and not give up, and said that numerous agents may be a good fit. She wished me luck. I appreciated the time she took to give me that encouragement. Seems incredibly kind!

Slightly personalized form letter: she didn't like the premise, and she usually only reps books between 50 - 100k words.

Unfortunately, my word count was too high for her; the fantasy elements as well. Bummer.

I like the premise of this, however, I didn't connect with the story in all the ways I had hoped. This is completely subjective, so don't give up! Nevertheless, I wish you every success with [my novel].

Keep going with it, there are numerous agents out there that may be a good fit. I wish you the best of luck!"

A very kind form letter for a one-day rejection on a 50-page sample.
