Ha, well, I guess I can save myself a rejection here. I just realized my rejection from Steven Malk came from Hannah Mann (She was his assistant, and I guess
is still doing some of the slush pile work? It was personalized and very nice, but still a rejection. They'd previously requested a full of a past MS) I usually submit to multiple Writers House agents since they allow that but in this case it's pretty moot.

Very helpful rejection letter. She seems really kind. I think I'd be lucky to get to work with her in the future.

A form-like and yet slightly personalized rejection that was kind of strange for how it sounded as if she read the whole manuscript (didn't 100% connect with all elements of the story) when the query didn't even include sample pages or even a synopsis. Odd, but still nice and encouraging nonetheless.

"Thank you for your thoughtful query and sample. You’re a talented writer and have a creative premise here. These great things considered, I wasn’t connecting with all the elements of the story 100%, so it’s best that I step aside.

Thank you for the opportunity, and I wish you the very best moving forward with your work.

Kind regards,

Her genre list needs to be updated. Previous comments indicate she’s only focusing on Children’s. Her Publishers Marketplace page seems to indicate that within that she’s especially interested in SFF.

Is there any other information as to what type of books she likes? I find it really helpful with twitter or if they have blogs with wishlist, because i hate wasting their time reading a query if it's not something they're interested in you know what I mean

She used to be Steven Malk's assistant, but recently she has been promoted to Junior Agent.

I'm guessing she's Steven Malk's assistant since she's at the California office.

It's probably a form saying she doesn't accept your genre. A quick response is always helpful though ;-)

This is what I it personalized?

"Thank you for your thoughtful query. I'm presently focusing on acquiring Children's books exclusively, so I don't think I would be the best agent to champion your book, despite its very interesting premise.

Thanks again for the opportunity, and I wish you the best moving forward with your work."
