@bestseller... sounds like an unmodified form email...

EQ: 12/15/17
ER: 4/18/18
Weird thing is, I only sent her a query--no sample pages--and her response was as follows:

"My apologies for the delay! I loved the setup here, but the characters didn’t quite come alive for me. I truly appreciate you querying me, and again, sorry for the slow response. Best of luck!" characters didn't come alive in the query????? Were they supposed to...?

4/4 EQ
4/5 that weird email where she says she will get back to me...
4/6 FR "I'm definitely intrigued! I'd love to read the full manuscript. A word doc is best."

She did send the weird email and then requested... and she was fast. So there's that.

She requested during Pitmad and I sent right away but have heard nothing. No confirmation or anything. Is that abnormal?

EQ: 11/20
ER: 3/14 -- personalized
This definitely took awhile, but she was really nice in her rejection and took the time to personalize.

Nudge with offer of representation - 2nd Feb
Possibly the nicest rejection ever on 8th Feb saying it had been a tough choice with various compliments and wishing me luck.

"Thank you for your query. I will be back in touch shortly!" Does she get back in touch or is that an R?

EQ 10.25.17
ER 1.22.18, also somewhat personalized.

I am one of the folks who sent with an all-caps subject line and never got a confirmation, but she received it after all. I think she's just backlogged! I got this response before I got around to nudging.

Somewhat-personalized letter:

Dear Kayla,

Apologies for the delay! Thank you so much for your query. Unfortunately, I don’t think I’m the right agent for this book. I liked the setup, but, for whatever reason, I wasn’t sucked into the story. Sorry this wasn’t a great fit. Best of luck to you!

22 Jan 2018: Same response as others mention below: "Thanks for your query. I will be back in touch shortly!" Don't know if this is a delayed auto response or a rejection?

I got her automated "Thanks for your query. I will be back in touch shortly" message a whole week after I sent my query. It got my hopes up, for I assumed that there was no way an auto-response would take a week to arrive. Lol :-)

1/10/18 - EQ (after she liked a Pitmad tweet from September)
1/17/18 - FR

fwiw, looking at the below comments, I didn't receive a confirmation email after the EQ and also put my title in all caps in the subject line.
