good to know. And disappointing! I'm waiting for a full back too, so I'll let you know if that's the norm...

Just this:
Thanks so much for submitting your work. Unfortunately I didn't connect with the story in a meaningful way, and it'll be a pass from me at this time. Best of luck on your publishing journey.

I was hoping for a little more feedback, since it was a full request. Isn't that how it usually rolls?

FR: 10/24!!! (same comment as bestseller1980 received)
He also did a helpful #tenqueries on his twitter account
ER: 11/02 Form rejection stating didn't connect with the MS. Appreciate the quick response but am disappointed nonetheless (rejection on my birthday of all days). I think it's also worth it to note that I got another full request before this rejection. Good luck everyone!

Liked my premise but wasn’t comfortable with a certain plot within my novel. I’ll probably resubmit to him in the future with a different project.

EQ via Query Manager: 9/28 + 3 chapters
FR: 9/29 (commented: "I'm intrigued")
ER: 10/10, stating "Thanks so much for submitting your work. I think you're a talented writer, but I found the girls' slut-shaming and use of LGBT identities for insult to be off-putting."

Here's my thing, one of my characters calls her BFF a "lesbo" and also refers to a boy as "fruity." These comments occur in the first three chapters, which leads me to think Mr. Devine did not read the sample pages accompanying the query, or he would not have requested the full. Also, my MC calls her BFF a slut and also refers to the boy she's hooking up with as a "man whore." Not sure what to think about this new concept of "slut shaming," I didn't set out to write an after school special or teach a lesson with my story. Curiously enough, the antagonist in my story makes racially insensitive comments in the first three chapters (and throughout the book), but there was no mention of this being off-putting in the agent's comments.,,

He said that for this type of book he'd 'want it to be more contemporary'.
