She got back to me promptly, and was both concise and polite. Requested the full manuscript (sent yesterday). Delay between request and me sending was mine. We'll see what comes next.

Contemporary Romance, 70k words

She spelled my name wrong in BOTH form rejections, for this query and the one I sent before that for a different book.

Rejection went to spam, by the way.

"Thanks so much for letting us take a look at your materials, and please forgive me for responding with a form letter. The volume of submissions we receive, however, makes it impossible to correspond with everyone personally.

Unfortunately, the project you describe does not suit our list at this time. We wish you the best of luck in finding an agent and publisher for your work, and we thank you, once again, for letting us consider your materials.

Sincerely,

Ann Leslie Tuttle"

EQ: 5/17 via #PitDark
FR: 5/19 (included full synopsis)
Personal rejection 5/21. I'm pretty confused as to why this agent (who appears to only rep romance writers) requested my MS during #PitDark. Everything in my pitch, query, and first 25 pages clearly showed I'm pitching a dark, psychological thriller (I even compared it to Gillian Flynn and Jessica Knoll). Her rejection included the note "your plot didn't live up to its promise." What promise was that? Romance? *shrugs* Not sure what to think about her...If she's branching out into new genres, I wish she'd say that in her bios online. Or if she really expected a romance, I wish she'd tell me that was the reason for her rejection. I'm just...baffled.
