I looked on publishers Marketplace and she only sells women's romance. All the way back to 2012. At least the ones that are put on PM.

@Diablos--and everyone else. So, reading queries isn't their #1 priority of the day. Check out the video below around the 5:30-6:00 mark. Agents may get into query manager once a week, depending on their schedule. I can't find the blog I was reading the other day, but the agent was saying they read them in between major priorities (ie: negotiating contracts, publication meetings, editing, submission tracking, writing proposals, etc.) and they read their full requests at night. It's really interesting. If you imagine they are receiving dozens of queries a day and reading queries is not their #1 job, then even getting into querymanager to press the button takes work.

If you get a timeframe for the response and you don't have an answer, it's probably best to move on unless they say it's okay to follow up.

Submission online form 8/23/2021 historical fiction 100k. Says wait 12 weeks for response. Never responded. Presumably it is a rejection.

What I don't understand about agents who use querymanger... it's just clicking a button to pre-populate a response and reject something, right? Why do agents use the platform and then just not respond at all?

I wonder if they're the kind of people who don't 'like' their friend's posts online, but then tell them later they saw it and enjoyed it.

@Dapenbeast

If you visit the agency’s submission page, it’ll tell you how long the wait is. If you submitted via form, find the response email with the status link; that’s where you’ll see the response—when the agent responds. It likely won’t be here.
