Query: 3/12/26
R: 3/13/26 form rejection
73,000 Paranormal Romance

Thank you for the opportunity to see your pages. Unfortunately, I don't feel I am the right agent for this project, so I'm passing. Just because I wasn't quite drawn in, however, doesn't mean there isn't another agent out there who will love it. I encourage you to re-work your query so that the plot points, obstacles, and character(s) attempts to overcome them are more clear.

I wish you the best of luck on your writing journey!

Q: 03/12/26
R: 03/12/26, under 15 minutes

Was shocked at the quick turnaround, she works fast 😅
however it was the first time I’ve gotten specific feedback on the query letter itself and not just a standard auto rejection so I’ll take it lol

Wanted to submit a 101,000 word and was rejected. 90,000 is the max.

2/27/26 - Q adult horror 88K

Based on others' comments, I'm bracing myself for a response in two hours that makes me think my query sucks haha

UPDATE - exactly as predicted. Same day form rejection. By the way, this is what the form advice says:

"...Just because I wasn't quite drawn in, however, doesn't mean there isn't another agent out there who will love it. I encourage you to re-work your query so that the plot points, obstacles, and character(s) attempts to overcome them are more clear..."

Form feedback really bothers me. Writers freak out about feedback like this. If she's seeing common issues in the query letters, she should have a "double-check this" at the top of her query form. No query is perfect, but there's no need to make writers think they were rejected because of a bad letter. That's my soapbox. (:

Form rejection less than 1 day later, because it's already self-published on KDP.

If I had known that was a deal breaker... I don't know, maybe say something before I waste my time querying.
