She liked my Pitmad pitch and requested the query, synopsis, and first three chapters. She rejected, but gave me generously detailed feedback on the opening chapters and synopsis. It was very much appreciated. She seems awesome.

No reply as of 2/19/19 I reached out to offer a revised draft. Tara responded she's "quite behind" reading submissions and I was welcome to withdraw and resubmit the new draft.

I queried Tara with Venom before she was listed her on QT last year via #MSWL:

EQ 8/6/18 (Venom)
ER 8/9/18 (Passed--writing seems basic, story line didn't interest her, not a good fit)

EQ 12/3/18 (Chain Reaction)
ER 2/15/19 (Passed via two nudges via Query Manager--writing seems basic, missing wow factor, not good fit)

lnloch If an agent says they respond to all, then seeing the agent respond to people after you can be a good sign. A lot of agents flag queries as "maybe" or "for further consideration" and revisit them later.

Might be a little early for me to CNR this one, since I only nudged a few days ago, but I'm noticing my query age is double the average here, which probably isn't a good sign. Will update if something changes!

11/14/18: Online form re: TANCM - YA

EQ (online form): 6/20/18
Full Request (sent same day): 7/31/18
Honest, personalized rejection: 11/13/18

When I first queried her, she had very little posted about what she liked / didn't like. When she added more information about her wish list, I saw fantasy was a genre she didn't want, so I expected a rejection. She requested my full (which shocked me since it was YA Fantasy). When she rejected my full, she explained she loved my characters and kept wishing she could transplant them to another story. The genre and plot weren't for her, but I am excited to hear my characters were strong enough to get her attention in the first place.

She also seemed very excited about the non-binary and trans rep, so if you have an LGBTQ+ story in a genre she reps, especially romance, it's worth querying her.
