very encouraging for a rejection letter. (Not a form letter!) @dlpoet17: I think you're right. She mentioned in her email that she'd "set the query aside" to take a closer look...

Kristin commented on twitter on 4/4 that she's headed off to vacation. She said she was in LAX so I'm guessing she's headed overseas and she'll be gone awhile. Just mentioning it here in case people are wondering why they're not getting responses on requested transcripts (if there are any out). I was thinking of querying her soon but now I'm not sure if it's better to wait or if it doesn't matter. Probably going to be an ER regardless of when I send it! :) If her readers are still behind I guess it probably doesn't matter.

3/21 sent gentle reminder since a month had passed
3/22: email addressing me by name, “This is Jamie, one of the first-round readers at Nelson Agency. Your query made it past the first round and is now on Kristin’s desk for her consideration. Thanks for your patience, and please let us know if you get any interest from other agents in the meantime.“
4/4 ER "Thank you so much for your patience. I had set aside a bunch of queries that needed a closer read. I blinked and here we are already into April. So I apologize for how long I took to get back to you. For [title], I thought your query and sample were well-written with a strong concept but not quite what I’m looking for at the moment. Because I’m careful to keep my client list manageable, I’m being really selective about what fulls I request. However, I think another agent is going to be intrigued enough to ask for the manuscript and I’m sorry I can’t offer a referral. Stay tough out there. Keep writing!"
