Always verify agent's information before sending your query. Verify the agent's query preferences, contact information, genres of interest, and if the agent is still open to queries.

Although QueryTracker tries to stay current, it is not always easy. Never trust any single source for agent information (and yes, this includes QueryTracker).

Review the user comments for more information, and always follow exactly what it says on the agent's website.

And NEVER give money to an "agent".

Query Guidelines

Please do not just send a query letter (or query email). Please send a full proposal with sample chapters (preferably in one document). We need to have something whereby we can evaluate your writing.

Leave comments about your experiences with this literary agent, or read what other authors have to say.

Thank you for sending us your proposal for review. Unfortunately it has been decided that yours is not what we are looking for at this time.

The immense number of proposals we receive, our full client list, and the intense nature of the competition in the marketplace causes us to be highly selective.

We appreciate the opportunity and wish you the best in your search for another agency.

Karen Ball requested to see my proposal at a conference. I sent the requested proposal to her Jan 9, 2014, via her assistant, Peggy Whitson. Not sure if Karen saw it. No response. Having met Karen in Portland, Oregon, I can say she is a wonderful person, a delight to talk to, very approachable, and an engaging speaker.

They will accept email queries (just the cover letter) from writers outside of the US. You should state that fact at the beginning of the email.
