That was the fasted read through I've ever had. Some lovely, very personal and in depth feedback that I do agree with. The voice of my novel is not for everyone, and that's okay. :)

GENRE UPDATE 3/20: Amy isn't taking on new YA titles right now.

EQ: 2/27/17
PR: 2/28/17 - Received a kind email from Genevieve requesting the first fifty pages in PDF.
FR: 3/14/17 - Genevieve had such kind words to say about my partial. I cried for, oh, ten minutes. Sent same day, confirmed receipt 3/15.
Reply from Gen 3/20/17: Highly positive response. She loved it and will pass it on agents at WH because Amy isn't acquiring YA right now. Yeah!
ER: 4/7/17 - Received a lengthy, incredibly heartwarming rejection letter from Gen. She explained in detail what it was in my manuscript that didn't click with agents, while reiterating the many things she (and they) loved. I'm sad and disappointed, but overall this was a positive experience.

Just to let you know, Genevieve isn't Amy's assistant, she's an associate editor and the same person who plucked "Twilight" out of the slush pile. From what I understand, Genevieve doesn't want to be an agent herself, but has an excellent eye for story and the market, and so Amy finds her indispensable in scouring for new talent.

As the slush is a big part of Genevieve's job, if she takes a partial or a full, you'll probably get focussed feedback. As with all feedback, you might not agree with everything, but at least you'll have something to think about going forward. Definitely worth querying Amy if your genres are a fit.
