Always verify agent's information before sending your query. Verify the agent's query preferences, contact information, genres of interest, and if the agent is still open to queries.

Although QueryTracker tries to stay current, it is not always easy. Never trust any single source for agent information (and yes, this includes QueryTracker).

Review the user comments for more information, and always follow exactly what it says on the agent's website.

And NEVER give money to an "agent".

Leave comments about your experiences with this literary agent, or read what other authors have to say.

Wow! Back in fall 2010, she was one of the agents who gave me the first partial request for Venom. But I never heard back from her, when I requeried her. And then she closed submissions. I wonder what happened.

I was one of her writers. She folded her agency in Feb of 1012, dropped all but three writers. Don't know if she even has them any more.

Guess that explains a lot. I'm moving her to no response/closed for obvious reasons!

Wow. I haven't heard back from her on my requery for Venom. I guess I can close this baby soon and scratch it off my query list.

Wow, thanks for that update. I just checked it out, and she is done. I was about to send a query.

Hang in there Oreo. I sent Gina an email inquiry yesterday and hope to hear back from her next month. Last year, I've heard from her within a month, back in September. Maybe this is a good thing.

Thanks for the link. I'm still waiting to hear from her on my requery from Venom, (and waiting to hear from Gina Panettieri from Talcott Notch on my revamped query/chapter 1 on Chain Reaction.)

Here's Jane Friedman's full-length Q&A with Kelly Mortimer -- the Writer's Digest magazine version was cut for space:

Not saying this to gossip, but because I respect where she's coming from.

On her website she has a snippet archived from her E-Newsletter dated Jan 6, 2009 titled "Fact or Fiction" if you want to read a little bit of the history.

If you are familiar with Kelly's history with the RWA and their response to her plight, you might better understand her reason for taking this stance.I don't blame her at all, and wish I could find the blog entry she made describing the events in detail, but I can't take the time right now.

Agent represents romance but won't consider submissions from writers affiliated with RWA (Romance Writers of America).

I only wish I were joking. Just a heads up for those of you who haven't read the guidelines.

Agent disregarded.

LOL Bethany!
I think the restructuring over the summer slowed everything down. I don't think (hope) it is her normal way of operating.

WHAT?! That's nutty.
Okay, I'll grab a drink and throw in a movie--looks like I'm in for the long haul wait.
