Thank you for sending us this material.
But we regret to say that we are unable to represent your novel.
We are happy to assure you that this is no reflection on the quality of your writing. But Gregory and Company have recently decided to concentrate solely on crime fiction, which is our preferred area of expertise.
Also, since you are American, and your novel is set in the States, that is where your primary readership is likely to be. So we feel you would be wise to approach US-based agents, who will know better than we can what publishers are going to be looking for in the coming years.

Thank you for your email and submission, XXXXX.
There was much to admire but it wasn't quite what I am looking for at the moment. Please remember that publishing is a subjective industry and another agent may well feel differently.
I wish you the best of luck with your writing career and thank you again for the opportunity to consider your work.
Best wishes,
Stephanie
