I had a different agent, but Metamorphosis was pretty suspect altogether. They asked authors to mock covers to books so it looks like they'd sold more. I was told I'd be submitted to Scholastic then after 6-7 months pushed towards independent pubs I could have approached without rep. Emails went months without response, I don't have any evidence my books was legitimately being sent out. When I notified them I wanted to part ways they tried to sneak in a confidentiality agreement and told me I'd be held to the rest of the year if I didn't sign it.

Form rejection after full manuscript submission. Kind of a bummer.

Is she the type of agent who has a maybe pile? She’s skipped mine and I’m not sure if it’s because she’s thinking about it or if mine got lost or something.

Full Request, rejection 1 month later. Appreciated the fast turnaround.

Katie responded with one terse sentence that she’d read my MS and “didn’t connect to pages,” and “good luck with other agents.” This is her form for full request rejections based on other comments. It was the most disrespectful response on any partial or full MS request to date. Zero feedback. These kinds of agents don’t see querying writers as humans— just $ signs or no $ signs. I’ve had helpful feedback from a five-page submission and kind, encouraging rejections from manuscript requests, so I know there are alternatives to what Katie chooses to do.

Based on Publisher's Marketplace, she specializes in ebook deals via digital publishers who accept submissions from authors directly.
(Information I wish I had from Publisher’s Marketplace before I queried, but who can afford $25/month year-round?)

Her last eleven deals (out of 12 lifetime total) were all digital/ebook deals to digital publishers who accept submissions directly from authors, such as TouchPoint Press (six deals). Looking at her list, I now have 3-4 ebook publishers I can go ahead and query myself. May as well submit to them directly rather than go through this agent?
