@mword I did get a different variation. This was an interesting rejection. "I appreciate the opportunity to read your work and this is a fun concept, but in general I do struggle to connect to animal protagonists, and I am afraid this just wasn't for me. I am sorry to not have better news, but wish you the best of luck with your future queries."
I am finding that talking animals are a definite "no" for many agents, seemingly because of something in their childhood. I try to figure this out through the agency pages, MSWL, and social media ahead of time.
