Took her Submission Coaching class through WD.
Query: 4-25-2024
91K Suspense/Thriller
Full Request: 05-17-2024
Full sent: 05-20-2024
Receipt acknowledgement: 06-04-2024
Form rejection: 07-14-2024
"Because I do not want to make you wait any longer, I am going to have to bow out of consideration for your work. I have recently had to hold off taking on any new clients until I can successfully handle the workload of my existing client base. So I am afraid I have to pass at this point."
Sad, because after the submission class, I really thought we would work well together.

Amy had the full of a different project last year that ended up being a pass as it was too dark for her current list, but loved the writing, voice and story.
Reconnected on socials and was asked to submit my new project 11/19/24

Update 11/12/24: Nudged one more time before closing it out. She'd posted that a bunch of emails sent around the same time I sent the first nudge had gone to her spam folder, so I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt while also being realistic that, if she'd wanted to offer representation, she probably would have done so by now.

Update 8/28/24: Nudged after hitting the six-month mark. No response yet. Trying to not be too crushed.

Update 2/17/24: the story’s not over yet! In January, I signed up for the WDU Agent One-on-One course that focuses on improving your first ten pages. Talcott Notch was the hosting agency and I was assigned to work with Amy. Long story short, she ended up loving those revised opening pages and just requested the full!! I’m over the moon happy - she’s absolutely wonderful and I would love to work with her. Fingers crossed!

Adult horror, 110k

After getting nothing but form rejections, it was so encouraging to hear that, while she’s not the best agent for this particular novel, she loves my writing and thinks it’s a “worthy project.” Hope is renewed!

This agent is currently closed to queries but I was fortunate enough to meet her at a recent conference. She listened to my pitch, expressed herself with a light heart and, happily for me, requested material. I sent it and got confirmation of receipt and an idea of when to expect to hear from her again, all within a couple of days.

CLASS ACT.
