Shannon requested additional chapters and was the only agent in my first query run to do so.
Canceled Query: 2/7/2023
I'm not canceling because of no response. I'm canceling because I've learned a lot since I sent my first query and need to revisit my manuscript and edit it again. It's not up to my current standards and honestly, I'm glad ONE agent wanted to see more. I will query Shannon again.

Polite nudge: 1/4/2023
ER: 1/30/2023 I believe this is likely the same others are getting (apologizing for the time delay, invitation to submit next project, etc.) and so probably a form
But wow! 256 days later! I had already marked it as CNR and have gone on to query another agent at the agency. Shannon seems really nice, but she's also super behind. I would query other agents at the agency first.

IDK when she closed tbh but if she doesn't get back to me by then, I'll resend my query I guess.

Personal Note: This would be the second time I sent in a query to Shannon Snow because she was just so nice the last time! Hopefully, I can work with her one day! I say the second time because I withdrew the "second" query and she never even got it. lol
@Roll_4_Initiative Not going to lie, that sounds really interesting! Hope you get picked up! I'll read that! Idk, I love haunted house atmospheres.

CNR 12/14/2022: Sadly I didn't get a response. I also looked through my spam but oh well :(
Anyway, I'd still recommend sending your query to her. You might get lucky.
@bawhelan She does sound really nice. The first time I spoke to her via email, she was very nice. However, understanding that Querys can go into spam emails... That's why we and they should check out spam mail. We're told to put Query in the heading of the title of our emails to help them figure out what's Query emails or just trash. IDK, that's just my feeling. I'm not trying to talk badly about anyone but that's just facts.
It'd be my fault if I just deleted my spam folder and a literary agent was trying to get a hold of me.
That said, I would STRONGLY suggest *to everyone that reads this* that if you want to work with a literary agent, to follow up with them. Even if they say... "If we haven't contacted you in X weeks." You should 110% know if they even received your email.
I hope I don't offend anyone with what I said, however, it's just my thoughts and feeling. Nothing more.
Now I will say. When she emailed me, she didn't send me a cut-and-paste email. I posted my interaction on Jul 06, 2022, down below. You can go read it for yourself. She gave me suggestions and was very kind. I don't know about anyone else's emails, however, that was my experience with her. My thoughts are that she custom-makes her emails to fit the author. That takes a lot of time to do. I honestly don't hold it against her that she takes long. However, I'd be upset if I was skipped without the literary agent giving me a reason why. Let me know if I'm on a maybe pile when I nudged you. That's all I'm saying.
Her response: Hi (My name),
My profound apologies for taking so long to get back with you. I have been so far behind for the entire year that it has taken me being closed to queries for a month to catch up on all the outstanding queries I received before January, and then go back and respond to nudge emails like yours. I'm finally getting there though.
So, that said... I remember receiving an email from you in July where you said you wanted to withdraw your submission for (Book 3) at that time. That's why I've not responded to you about that particular project after I gave my initial rejection to (Book 1). I thought I didn't have anything else outstanding for you that I had not already replied to until I finally found an email from stating you'd queried me from a different email address for a project called (Book 2). So my apologies that I overlooked that submission or somehow missed it. I did read it, but I'm afraid the story isn't quite right for me.
I would really love to see one of your works after you've had a chance to revise to increase active voice like we talked about, so please do keep me in mind for future projects!
I hope you had a fantastic holiday and the New Year is treating you well. Thanks again for your amazing patience!
Kindly,
Shannon
My return email:
Dear Shannon Snow:
I’m so glad to hear from you, regardless of the outcome. I hope you’ve had a fantastic holiday, and have an amazing New Year.
I’m still trying to revise “Book 2.” Which is embarrassing that I even sent it out like that.
With “Book 1” while I’m in school for my English major and my writing and editing certificate. Hopefully, the classes will help broaden my possibilities to become a successful author. Until then, I’m going to keep writing and try to submit other
queries.
That said; this particular query is another story I wrote. It’s called “Book 3”. I remember my emails going through blank. I’m assuming that’s what keeps happening, (Dang it technology! Aren’t you supposed to be perfect?!” lol Sorry, I like to joke.) If you haven’t received that query because of email issues, I’d be glad to resend it.
I have a list of book ideas, and I’d be happy to email you when I’ve finished any work of mine. You seem like someone I would be glad to work with. Also, I’ve said this on “query tracker” that you custom-make your response so it takes a while to read and speak to every author who queries you. I respect that so regardless of how long I have to wait, I’ll wait.
Thank you for caring.
(My Name)
Personal Note: The email kind of confused me because; did she read (book 2's) query in place of (book 3's)? We'll get that sorted out, I'm sure.
As I said before, she personalizes her emails to fit the Author. A kindness that you don't receive from many literary agents. Bare in mind that it takes a while to go through all of those queries and personalize her email. If you haven't received an email back, please nudge her.
Edit: So we indeed cleared it up in less than a day!
Something nice to hear: Never lose hope, tomorrow could be the day you have been waiting for.
Good luck everyone!

To those asking about response times... my query was sent 196 days ago. No response yet. :-[
EDIT: Sent polite inquiry 1/4, three days later, no reply. I can only deduce that the agency (since it's an agency email) has severe problems with emails going to spam. I don't think Shannon purposefully ignores us. She honestly seems really nice!
My query is now at 233 days lol

Intriguing but not right for list. Don't know if it was a form reply but was one of the nicest rejections I've received from an agent, being both polite and encouraging. I found myself wishing her well despite the rejection!

From a moodpitch like, magical realism 87k. Form rejection today 12/21 "not right for the list she's building". I appreciate that she got back to me instead of waiting until after the holidays.
