Personalized email rejection that pointed out the aspects she enjoyed, while flagging some concern with the marketability of the premise in the cozy mystery genre. Appreciated her prompt reply and feedback. Thanks, Chelsey!

"Fantasy" should probably be removed from this agent's list of genres. From the Copps agency website: 'Chelsey is NOT seeking: "Quiet" or “character driven” literary novels, fantasy and it's subgenres...'

"After digging in, I'm afraid I'm not as excited by the premise as I would need to be in order to pursue representation, so I ill have to pass."

@TedBushman, though she doesn't list fantasy outright, she does list "magical realism" which is a subset of fantasy, and that's why she comes up for fantasy.

She explicitly says she's not seeking fantasy -- the search shouldn't bring her up.

A quick rejection. At first I thought it was personalized but then saw here that it’s one of her standard rejections.
“While your premise caught my eye, I'm afraid the plotting felt a bit underwhelming, lacking the layered conflicts I'm looking for in this genre. For these reasons, I'll have to pass but I wish you the best of luck finding the right representative for your work.”

HI LizzyDevlin26,
Agents have direct control over their QueryManager forms, but they don't always control their websites. So, yes, I consider QueryManager to more current, and therefore QueryTracker since QT gets its info from QM.

Is QueryTracker more up to date than the agencies website? On the website it says she’s not open to fantasy or any of its subgenres?

Polite slightly personal rejection in that she said "novels in this time period are a tough sell." That's for sure and kind of what I expected! American Revolution and Quakers...a niche that's not for everyone! I'll keep checking with others, might be better off going directly to small press.
