Per the Publisher's Marketplace link, Emelie Burl only handles Children's, YA, and Pop Culture?

2/20/23 - Actually ended up nudging again this past November (around 1 year after the request) and she responded again saying she still planned to read and would catch up on fulls by the new year. Now it's late Feb and she's requesting new stuff, so I am going to go ahead and CNR this.

Form rejection 7 days after submission. Many people seem to find the link she sends very off-putting, but I think it's sweet. I believe her heart is in the right place and she wants it to be a way to resource a writer and not make them feel inadequate.

Dear _______,
Thank you so much for submitting your work to me. After careful consideration, I am sorry to say that unfortunately, I do not feel that I am the right agent for your project. This online resource may be helpful to you as you seek the right agent for you and your work: https://www.janefriedman.com/find-literary-agent/

Second the comment about the off-putting form rejection . Felt kinda eh to read. Queries on 2-2-2023, rejected 2-7-2023

After six days, second rejection. First one was two years ago and a form rejection. This time it was personalized and my revised book was thought to be "too academic," which no one has ever said before about this book. In a weird way it almost feels like a compliment--at least someone sees I did my research.

Form rejection with a link to an article about the proper way to select the right agent. It was off-putting, to be honest.

Kind rejection 2/2/23, stating she has a very full YA Fantasy list and she is extremely selective.

Still, was nice to finally get something that wasn't a form reject.

Reject because she doesn't rep adult romance. I was confused because QT says she does

Slightly personalized form saying my book was good but a little too "epic" for her taste. Probably not a good fit for second world (YA) fantasy in general since my book isn't really epic at all. Also got the note saying her YA fantasy list is pretty full at present.

Is this actually a literary agency? Their PM page talks first off about film and television.

This agent requests both sample pages and a synopsis. How are you all sending your materials? As attachments or pasted in the body of the email?

I'll second the mention that she's open to queries.
I've been struggling to figure out what this agent's expected response time is. Their website is as good as nonexistent. Anybody know anything? TIA.
