I pitched to her at a conference, and even though my conflict and stakes were clearly stated in my pitch (which I didn't read too fast or anything), she seemed very confused about what they were. And it's not like I worded them confusingly in the pitch, because I restated it the same way and then she understood. Which makes me wonder if she was even listening the first time. Then after she invites me to email her the first 15 pages, she ends the pitch 3 minutes early - a whole third of the time I paid for. She doesn't seem like she cares much, but maybe I should expect that from an agent at such a large agency? It just came off as rude.

"Thank you so much for sharing [TITLE], and for considering me for representation. I’ve reviewed your work, and I’m afraid I just don’t feel strongly enough to move forward, so I’m going to step aside.
As you know, this is an incredibly subjective business, and another agent may very well feel differently. I truly appreciate the opportunity to review your work, and I hope you find someone who is passionate about your project and confident in their ability to champion it. I wish you all the best, and thanks again for thinking of me."

Personalized Rejection 6/9/25
Upmarket women's fiction 87K
-The agent provided personalized feedback on why she rejected my MS and included some encouraging comments (probably consistent with what she writes in a form rejection response). I think she would be an excellent agent for anyone who signs with her, and she seems very kind!
