UPDATE - The rejection from Ms. Hussain showed up on the LitConnect site itself, which might have been a good thing to say in the notice I got from the site (see below). I'm disappointed to get a form letter on a full request, particularly when there is an own voices disability/neurodiversity element and she is very vocal about disability representation as a founder of Disability in Publishing.

This is the form rejection I found on the site. I did not receive it in email -

Thank you for sending your manuscript to me. I appreciated the opportunity to consider it, but I'm sorry that I will have to pass on this. While I found the premise of your novel very interesting, I wasn't as captivated as I needed to be at the line level. I'm sure another agent will feel differently, and I hope this manuscript finds its way to someone who is ready to more passionately advocate for it soon. All the best with your future queries!

Best,
Ismita

Full request 3/26, Pass 4/27, no feedback, no from-the-agent rejection letter

She'd asked for the full on LitConnect, and I got the very brief rejection note from LitConnect, not from Ms. Hussain. I suspect they are still working out a system for their platform, but a note from the platform and not the agent after a full request is distressingly impersonal. She and I had exchanged email when I asked to confirm that the LitConnect request was real (a lot of fake agent stuff going on these days) and I had expected a little more interaction, even in the result of a pass.

The note -

Ismita Hussain has decided to pass on representing JACKSON FARROW CAME BACK DIFFERENT at this time.

Remember, finding the right agent is about matching your work with someone who's passionate about it. Your submission is still active with other agents.

Keep writing and believing in your work!
