MG Fantasy—good turnaround and very kind form.
“I use a 'semi-personalized' form rejection system. Although this is a form rejection, I have selected a preset option to indicate the main reason why I am turning your manuscript down. Please remember this generalized feedback is subjective and other agents may well disagree.
Broadly speaking, I felt your concept wasn't quite strong and distinctive enough to stand out against the competition in your area of the market.
This is the form rejection I use most often and is largely based on the query letter - it is not a reflection of the quality of your submission package. If I don't feel I can sell a book based on the concept alone, I have to step back as I wouldn't want to take on anything I didn't feel confident in pitching to editors.
I'm sorry to write with disappointing news and I wish you the very best of luck in finding representation. Many apologies for the impersonal form response and I hope the general feedback is helpful.”
