While PJ is grateful you thought of him, the need to allocate our time effectively forces us to decline participation in many worthy projects, and we regret that must be the decision in the case of this project as well.
We wish you the very best for your book, and for you generally in these strange times.

EQ 05/03/19.
PR (first 50 pages) via Ian on 05/10/19. Was politely told they have a high number of client deliveries recently and wouldn't get around until early June.
Polite nudge on 07/07/19 & response on 07/12/19 that it's still under consideration.
After another nudge this week (October), I received a polite sidestep with useful feedback on 10/07/19. Thank you, PJ.

I got a request for the first 50 pages via Ian Bonaparte (associate agent) who cautioned me that it will take them a while to read it because they are busy.

He requested that I send the full manuscript via my email. He said that my book was skillfully written (well-plotted with deeply drawn characters) but that it wasn't for him. It took him a little over a month to reply.

August rejection from Ian. To me it's phrased oddly but maybe this is a common way to reject?
"Thank you for sending us your query regarding your work. Unfortunately, you have come to us at a time when we are inundated with requests for assistance and representation. The need to allocate our time effectively forces us to decline participation in many worthy projects, and we regret that must be the decision in the case of this project as well."
If they are actually inundated, why not say they are closed to submissions?

Sought him out after I realized her represented Ausubel and Manguso and Maggie Nelson. Sounds like he doesn't really take any unsolicited submissions, but occasionally gives feedback. That's fine by me!
