@atstopyra It may have something to do with the editor's requirements. I spoke with an agent (a different one) at a pitch event, and she said most editors won't take debut books over 90k or 100k due to printing costs and the "risk" of underperforming sales by unestablished authors. I'm not sure if she might make exceptions for authors with proven high sales. But that would be my guess as to why there's a cap.

Does she realize she's capped word count for fantasy submissions at 120k? Seems like it must be a mistake, especially given that one of her preferred genres on the agency website is high fantasy.
