Received a transparent personalized decline: 05/06/2024

[After receiving this decline i sincerely hope everything is okay, and I'm posting the response here for other querying writers to view and be aware.]

Decline:

"Dear Katrina,

First, I'd like to apologize for the excessively long delay in getting back to you with a response regarding your manuscript, [Redacted]. I held it in my maybe pile for far too long of a time, and for that I'm very sorry. It isn't fair to keep you waiting that long.

Due to new personal life situations that have recently occurred and my desire to focus on the budding careers of my existing clients, I currently do not have the bandwidth to responsibly take on new clients. As such, I am declining your manuscript, but please know that it is entirely due to my personal situation as an agent, not your merit or skill as an author. I'd like to extend an invitation to submit to me again in the future once I reopen to queries and am better equipped to take on new clients, if you'd be interested.

I'm so sorry to not be writing to you with better news today. I wish you the best of luck on your querying journey.

Best,
Leah."

Leah requested my full back in Sept. 2023. I nudged her twice and there was no response so I'm calling it.

I nudged Leah at 125 days for my 50 page partial request. It's been two weeks and I haven't heard anything, not even a "hey thanks for checking in, your submission is still under consideration" type message. I understand that agents have lives outside of their submissions inbox, but I'm a little frustrated on this one ngl.

Update: form rejection at 165 days about it not being a good fit for her list.

"Thank you so much for sending me your query for TITLE. Unfortunately, after careful consideration, I will have to pass on this project, as it does not seem like a good fit for my list at this time. Please know that this is just my subjective opinion and that other agents might feel differently. I'm sorry that I can't provide specific feedback on your submission, but due to the large volume of queries I receive, it unfortunately isn't feasible at this time."
