@ScribbleM

The wait is hard! I've had requests come in within 24 hours, one at nearly 4 months (was sure I was in their maybe pile before that, though), and everything in between. Really just depends on the agent, their existing client workload, what they are particularly hoping to find, and their process for handling their queue.

Hope this one pans out for you!

Thank you @dlpoet17 and @afanigita. I do have premium and see the long times. I've had 8 requests so far and it seems that they request within a few days so I was thinking it meant rejection/no response, but you are right I should keep waiting. And yes...so many queries for these agents! It's a wonder they can get through them at all.

@scribble it's not a rejection, this agent, like many, consider queries in batches, quickly rejecting novels that are not a clear fit. If you notice your timeframe is out of whack with the queries sent around that time, you're still under active consideration. Also, don't assume the agent who opened up will be any faster. Agents are literally getting a thousand queries every time they open, and it's unpaid work so unless you have an offer or you were referred/pitch contest like, your query won't be a priority.

@ScribbleM

Do you have a premium account where you can see response times, etc.? In case you don't, it looks like right now like the bulk of her rejection times are running right at two months. However, there's a big chunk of sequential unanswered queries in her queue that are older than that without any requests or rejections. (I'm in that chunk, at 72 days.) To me that says she's working through her box non-sequentially. Since this agency doesn't look like it has a set time for a no-response rejection and there's another agent there that you feel strongly about querying, you could withdraw your query to Christine with the comment that you plan to submit to the other agent. Otherwise I'd probably let it ride a bit longer since it looks to me like Christine just hasn't gotten to part of her inbox.
