Just received an impersonal (but not necessarily form) rejection that apologised for the delay (but was within 28 days, very reasonable), and explained that they weren't disposed to represent the book's genre (crime/mystery). I checked the website again in case I had missed important information regarding genres they're looking for, but found none. I see the genre tab here just says general too, so with that in mind I don't believe there's any harm in anyone querying any work at all, but this type of response is one you may receive, whatever you submit, unless you happen to recognise that one of their listed authors writes in the same genre as you.

Thank you very much for sending the material on your book to us. We have now read it.
This is just a small agency and we take on new authors very rarely and only when we are really passionate about the writing and confident we can find publishers. Unfortunately your writing isn't working for us (but these things are largely subjective and others will react differently). We would be the wrong agency for you.
We wish you all the best in finding the right agent and with your writing career.
Yours sincerely,

Submitted fantasy/crime September 2020. Rejection from Sharon Marples said this isn't the kind of thing they represent so they were the wrong agency for me.

EQ: 4/22/17, to Laura Susijn
ER: 6/1/17, seemed to be a personalized rejection, which I appreciate immensely. And sounds like they actually read my submission.
Philosophical/Lit. fiction; 117,000 words
